{"id":60,"date":"2006-11-27T11:38:33","date_gmt":"2006-11-27T19:38:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/simplepie.org\/blog\/2006\/11\/27\/random-statistics-about-simplepieorg\/"},"modified":"2013-05-15T03:16:29","modified_gmt":"2013-05-15T11:16:29","slug":"random-statistics-about-simplepieorg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/simplepie.org\/blog\/2006\/11\/27\/random-statistics-about-simplepieorg\/","title":{"rendered":"Random statistics about SimplePie.org"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For those of you interested in statistical data for SimplePie.org (which is probably only me), I was digging through my stats this morning, and learned the following:<\/p>\n<h5>Firefox is the most popular browser.<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>64.7% Firefox<\/li>\n<li>21.8% Internet Explorer<\/li>\n<li>8.5% Safari<\/li>\n<li>2.3% Opera<\/li>\n<li>1.1% Mozilla (not including SeaMonkey)<\/li>\n<li>1.6% Everything else<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Firefox users are nearly <strong>triple<\/strong> the number of IE users, and the Mac-only Safari is nearly at 10%!  Additionally, I&#8217;m surprised that there are even 1.1% of people still on the old Mozilla browser.<\/p>\n<h5>Windows users still dominate, but not like everywhere else.<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>75.7% Windows<\/li>\n<li>17.3% Mac (WOW!)<\/li>\n<li>6.4% Linux<\/li>\n<li>0.7% Everything else<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Mac and Linux users are roughly 25% of all visits!  Windows users are still the most prevalent, but with not nearly the lead that have in other markets.<\/p>\n<h5>It&#8217;s all about the midrange.<\/h5>\n<p>98% of all SimplePie users have a screen resolution of 1024&#215;768 or larger, but 62% of those are either at 1024&#215;768 or 1280&#215;1024.  That means that SimplePie&#8217;s website will have to stay 1024&#215;768-friendly for quite some time to come.<\/p>\n<h5>Flash 8 is still on top, with Flash 9 coming up quick.<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>53.6% Flash 8<\/li>\n<li>37.3% Flash 9<\/li>\n<li>8.3% Flash 7<\/li>\n<li>0.7% Everything else<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If this in any indicator of the Flash usage (which it probably is), over 99% of all SimplePie users will be able to support the new software we&#8217;re using to support Flash Video (.flv) and MP3&#8217;s on the trunk (to be 1.0).
